Our Program, Our Approach and Requirements
Through the program, apprentice teachers gain invaluable experience in the field of education, while working alongside a mentor teacher. Over the course of a year-long paid apprenticeship, IndyTeach apprentices undergo 3 key stages of transitional development to gain the knowledge and skills of a practicing teacher. Upon completion of the program and passage of the CORE exams, apprentices qualify for an Indiana teacher instructional license.
Applicants must have the desire and willingness to invest meaningfully with students from low income backgrounds to produce both social and academic transformation.
Christel House believes in developing students using a holistic approach that pairs rigorous academic content with social and emotional skills to produce transformational change.
